Are .75 ct. rounds too large for side stones on a 3-stone ring?

And what size/shape of center stone would you use? I've been fooling around with different ideas and all I can come up with that would look good proportionally is out of my budget, especially for a round center stone. I did find an oval gemstone measuring 9 x 6.6 mm that I think might work. Kinda wanted a diamond though.
The side diamonds measure about 5.9 mm and my ring size is 5.5. Thanks in advance for your help.
ETA: I posted this in SMTR because I was hoping someone might have a photo of a 3-stone ring with .75 ct. round sides and ANY type of center stone.
I would say they'd look great with either rounds or ovals. I would say at least a 7mm round or 8 x 6 oval would be a good size to go with them. I can't wait to see what you do.
I think both would work it just depends on the setting you choose. Instead of a diamond we went with a natural sapphire in both my ring and my fiances. I was quite pleased with the effect and it was nice to be different and unique.
