Clip in hair

It is getting pretty close to my wedding day and my hair is not quite as long as I had wanted it to be, maybe 3 inches or so. I looked into hair extensions but after seeing the prices, the pain they are to keep looking nice, and how badly they can damage your hair I didn't think they were right for me. The clip-in type look interesting though. They are not super cheap but they are much more affordable and I can just take them out so I don't have to worry about them while on the beach during my honeymoon. Has anyone every used them? If I got them and my hair colored to match each other would they look really obviously fake? I am thinking of taking them to a hair salon and having them put in and having my hair styled with them, but I don't even know if places will do that.
