DJ vs Live Band

We had a really awesome DJ but I was wondering what you would prefer, live or DJ? I think it would have been nice to have a live band as well. One of my cousins down south had a live band and they were awesome. The DJ we had brought two other DJ's with him and they also handed out blow up guitars and saxophones during one of the songs they played. They had the whole room up and dancing. I've been to several weddings were the DJ only played hip hop music and the people went home early but this guy was great.
I would go with the DJ over the live band. I like a variety of music and I think a DJ can do this better. I think that you should have songs from each generation at the reception. From the oldies to new music.
I also think DJ's get you up and moving more than a live band would. There is more interaction with a DJ. Of course these are just my thoughts.
I'd go with a DJ with a large selection of music that would fit all generations of visitors. A live band has a limited repertoire, and some requests may not be given attention.
I would also go with a DJ. You will get a bigger variety of music with a DJ over a band. This way people can also request songs if they would like to.
My cousin had a live bad at her wedding and they took requests but I didn't think they were that good. I haven't been to any weddings since that had a live bad. I'm not saying that having a live band is bad, I just prefer a DJ for the reasons stated above.
