dress shopping
I know absolutely nothing about the "should"s and "should-not"s for weddings. My situation is that my fiance and I are going to have a small, immediate family only wedding. However, I'd like to have a friend along to pick out a wedding dress. Is it rude to ask a friend to come wedding dress shopping with you if they aren't going to be invited to the wedding?
After getting engaged, my one good female friend and I were talking about weddings (her wedding was just around the corner and i had just gotten engaged) and she asked me about the kind of dress I wanted and I said I had no idea and then asked if she would want to come dress shopping with me whenever I got around to it because I thought it would be fun and I'm not planning on having any bridesmaids (who i assume would normally assist with dress shopping). At that point in time my fiance and I were debating on whether or not to invite friends and I had told my friend it would probably be a small wedding with a few friends and immediate family.
We ended up deciding immediate family only...so now i feel kind of bad for asking my friend to come dress shopping and saying the wedding would have a few friends invited (granted I didn't say it in a "100% here's what's gonna happen" way). Once I inform my friend that the wedding will be immediate family only...is it rude to still ask her to come dress shopping?
Who are you having stand up for you? This is the person who you should ask to dress shop for you.
I don't know if your friend would feel bad not being invited to the wedding if she spent time out of her days helping you find that perfect dress.
If I were your friend I would be happy to assist you in choosing your wedding dress even if I will not be invited to the wedding. But if some other friends are invited and I am not, I will be offended. I will understand though, if it is only the immediate family who will be invited.
