Engagment party

I was sitting on the phone tonight with MoH, and we were chatting about when we wanted to go camping, and I asked about the 26th.. she went to check her day planner, and she started laughing. then it hit me, that's the date of my engagment party!!!! The one i set the date for 3 months ago and have done nothing for since! So now just a few questions...

- Who do I need to invite?
so far I have the wedding party, family, and a few close friends

- Should I have already sent out invitations? and if not, when should I send them?

- (MoH's question) what do you get someone for an engagment party?

I think that an engagement party is for the two families to get together and get to know each other.  If you have invited both sides of the family~ those that you are very close to on each side, along with the wedding party, that is fine.

The engagement parties I have been to have always said no gifts.  The gifts come at the showers and the wedding.

I would send the invitation out about 10 days-2 weeks ahead of time.
