For those who are married and some that are getting married soon, how did you tell the bride's family that you are getting married? Will/was it be during the special dinner from their family? Of the groom to be, had just visited your house anf tell your parents that you are about to get married.

My husband and I talked with my father who was bedridden at that time, and then we had to round up the rest of the relatives.

My mom was already in bed, so I just jumped in her bed and woke her up and stuck my hand in her face. It took her a minute before she realized what was going on! My fiance had asked my dad in advance for permission to marry me.

I just called my parents and told them over the phone - they knew it was coming anyways and they were quite happy that it was finally happening. I have had a bad track record with my two previous engagements as I broke them off, so I didn't want to make a big deal out of it this time around.
