Invitations and wedding favors

Has anyone here tried the make your own invitations from Michael's? Or does anyone know of any that are a little bit nicer? My mom and I found some there that would help us stay within budget. I'd hoped for something that looked a little nicer. Are they hard or time-consuming to put together?

I have and I did all of them by myself. I took them to a printing store and had them drill the holes in the top for the ribbon. They weren't difficult to do and I was able to finish all 200 in two nights. It is definitely worth trying for the money you can save. I chose to get the clear envelope labels and printed the addresses on them instead of handwriting.
For my sons wedding, we went to Walmart and bought some nice computer paper that had flowers boardering the paper. Then my son wrote the wording they wanted on the invitation and printed it out on a plain piece of computer paper. We took these to Office Max and they printed them on the paper from Walmart for us. They ended up being beautiful and for 150 invitations it was less than $20 for everything.
I am going to be doing my own. I have found a nice invitation saying online that I will be using. They have really good card stock you can use and it is much cheaper than ordering them.
If you know how to make your own invitations from your own computer, it will save a lot of money than having to order them from the printers. There are plenty of papers to choose from which can be used to print on.
There are wonderful computer applications available if you want to prepare your own invitations. I think they are much better as they are cost effective and you can take all the time you need making up your mind for the style, colors, etc. I've done it myself and it was not time consuming at all - I was glad because it saved me a lot money as well.
Tijay, what program did you use? I have some friends who are pretty great with graphic design, and I might be able to use them to help me design my own. I really like that idea. Thanks!
