Maid vs. Matron

I have two friends that I would like to make my maid/matron of honor. One of them is married, one is single. Would it be appropriate for me to have a maid of honor and a matron of honor? Would they be considered equal?

I think it's perfectly acceptable. In fact, I'm sure I've seen it before. And yes, I do think they are equal.

I think it is a great idea.  If they are both close friends of you, you can have one be the maid and one the matron.  This way neither will feel bad that the other was chosen over them.

That is not a bad idea and is acceptable. You will have two good friends to help you out during the wedding.
