For my wedding, I applied my own make-up and saved a fortune and of course possible disappointment from an overly ambitious make-up artist. For those who are about get married, what are you planning on doing? Will you be doing your own make-up or did you book a make-up artist for you and the bridesmaids?

I will be doing my own. No offense to the pros however I always feel "over done" whenever I have a pro do it. I am not one for major makeup though. I like it simple and light.

Yes, I've had my makeup done for a friend's wedding and although everyone said that it looked great, when I looked closely I felt like the Bridesmaid of Frankenstein! I'd love to do my own, maybe with some input from someone. However, I find that heavy mascara just makes me look really, really scary.

I have had mine done for many reasons and I can understand the "overdone" part too. I still remember my senior year of school (for the photos), it was the first time a pro had touched me and while the photos turned out nice, I still felt like I had 10lbs on my face that was fake.

I think it is best to do your own makeup. This way you look more natural, they way you would normally look.  Going to a professional will cost you extra money  and they may not make you look like yourself.

If you are good at doing your own makeup, then do your own.  I had mine done for a wedding I was in by one of the makeup "artists" at Macy's and it was way overdone. I looked chalky and did not like it at all.  Or course, if you are going to hire someone, you could always have a practice run through like some people do with their hair.

I agree with you. Just in my case that don't have confident in doing it on my own, and I want to be look more presentable on my special day, so I'd rather to have it to the professional one but we should have a trial on it.   It doesn't need to be have a famous one as long as he/she meets your outlook.

I am going to be doing my own make up. I just don't feel like having someone else doing it for me. My friend said she wanted have it done for me as a gift, but I told her no.
