I have a good friend who just married a man with a medium-large dog.  My friend does NOT like animals of any type. She and her now hubband did talk about the issue before the wedding and she made it clear she was not marrying his dog. He seemed not to react or be concerned.
Has anyone married a pet they didn't like or later found a new home?

I never married because I have three pets at home that answer the same purpose as a husband. I have a dog that growls every morning, a parrot that swears all afternoon and a cat that comes home late at night

That is very well, for you, sri. And you don''t have a pet that comes home drunk or gambles his money away.

I am afraid the man would have to choose between his pet or your friend.  It is not so easy to do, though. But it would be a test.  If the man choose to keep his dog, at least your friend know that he is not worth to get married to.

Not me.  Neither of us had any pets until our kids came along.

Your friend had to realize that many pets are just like babies to their owners.  She married into an already made family of the man and dog.

We had our own pets and then we got more, thats how it went for us anyways. We are mostly cat people but we do have a dog as well. We have lost some pets and gained some new ones and luckily we all get along just fine.
