I remember when I was first married I really wanted to get a puppy.  We had our house, we had our baby, so then I wanted a puppy.  Well, now I am so glad that my husband talked me out of it at the time.  We ended up getting our puppy once our kids were all in school. This gave me the time needed to train her.  If I had to train a puppy while taking care of babies, I would have gone crazy!

Yes, we have two cats and since they are fairly old and need a lot of "maintenance," they are a big responsibility. Both time wise and financially! We did a lot of research before we got them, but I didn't realize that they'd be so much work. Of course, they are also loves and very dear to us.

Our puppy is about 4yrs now, but lab's (and lab mixes) still act like a puppy for about 5 years, ours has the run of the yard as well. We got him before we were blessed with our girl and even an outside dog - it was still ruff. :)
