Real or Silk Flowers

When I was married this was an easy decision for me. I love real flowers, so I didn't go with the silk ones. Some people like silk so they can use them again or decorate their home with them after the wedding.
Which do you prefer?
REAL without question... We can't afford a lot of flowers, but the ones we do get will be real! We're buying them online and a friend is arranging for us.
I used silk flowers so I could keep mine. I do love real ones but you can`t save them. They cost a lot too.
I can understand wanting to hold on to your flowers as a souvenir - but you can always press or dry real flowers. I still have my bouquet from five years ago! I think real flowers are the best, though, especially as they have so many meanings attached to them.
The advantage of using silk flowers for your wedding is the cost. Even quality silk flowers are generally less expensive than real flowers from a florist. This is especially true if you are planning to use some the more expensive flowers like roses, orchids, or some of the more truly exotic flowers.
My mom was a florist when I was young. REAL flowers were the only choice or consideration for me. Even today I'd make the same choice. Silk flowers last and are beautiful, but there is just something missing without the scent and the natural feel of the stems and petals.
Granted, real flowers are very beautiful... however my husband and I were paying for our own wedding. Silk flowers were more reasonably priced. Plus, I have a whole 'wedding' display on top of my china cabinet including my boquet, one of my bridesmaids boquets and my tiara. A very nice accent to my dining room!
My cousin and I made the bouquets for my wedding. She made my bouquet and I made the bridesmaids bouquets. I am allergic to the pollen in flowers so that is the reason I didn't have real flowers but there were some real flowers in the church. We had a great time making them and I get to take mine out every now and then and show my kids. You couldn't tell they were fake at all, which was a bonus. In fact the photographer kept telling my husband to help me hold my flowers.
I agree with Sharird. I've done many silk bouquets and have yet to see a picture where the bouquet has the softness and depth of fresh flowers.
If I had to do it all over again I would end up with silk, and the same goes if we redo our stuff at a later date (we are still debating on this). It seems since the first time we were married, I have serious allergies now and there is no way I could handle fresh cuts even though I do adore them.
