What is proper concerning a second marriage? Do people expect the second wedding to be small or is it fine for the second wedding to be a big wedding if that's what the couple wants? What if only one of the wedding party is being married for the second time?

It all depends on the bride and the groom. They are the ones to decide how they want their wedding to be.

I think its fine to have a big wedding like the first wedding. What you two would celebrate is not your first time but your love for each other and that is worth everything, even a big wedding.

This is a very good question. I have a friend who is getting married for her 2nd time. Her wedding this time is bigger (much bigger) than her 1st one. Some people have asked her why. She just  says, "Why not?"
