My son is getting married and instead of a wedding ring, he wants to get his brides name tattooed on his wedding ring finger.

What are your thoughts on this?  Would you ever consider a tattoo instead of a ring?

The skin on your hands tends to exfoliate a lot. Tatoos on the hands tend to bleed and smudge with time. So after a while the tatoo will become blurry. Other than that, I think it's a fine idea. I mean a tatoo is a lifelong commitment.. but then again so is marriage, right?

I think that if someone says they want to tattoo the ring on, it shows alot of commitment on that persons part also.  I know that some people get married knowing that divorce is an option. This shows that he is in it for the long run.

Adventurous couples are opting for the wedding ring that you know will never come off or get lost - the tattooed wedding ring. Although the practice has been around for centuries, it's newly trendy.

A tattoo ring would be something unique but, I don't think that's a good idea. I would still prefer to have a real ring. How would they be able to wear it during the ceremony? Anyway, he could still do that after the wedding.
