We're thinking about a destination sort of wedding on a small local lake. We'd like to rent a houseboat and have the wedding on the top of the boat, because there is a deck. Has anyone ever heard of a boat-based wedding? Any resources out there that you'd recommend? Or do you know someone who has tried it and it failed spectacularly?

The only thing that might stop us from doing this is the fact that our grandparents can't get on the boat that easily. We still need to figure that part out!

Thank you for any ideas.

I don't really know any good sources for that matter but if that's the case, then I think you can find that kind of setting in the Philippines. They have lots and lots of beautifuol lakes that is perfect for any wedding. They also offer boats to be used for any kinds of occasions.

It is your wedding and you can have it anyway you want. But you should also consider the size of the boat and the size of the wedding party. Having the ceremony on the deck of the boat sounds wonderful, but don't wear too frilly wedding dress beacause it will be blown about by the winds.

I think  is sounds like fun!

I live near a lake that has 2 party boats that are always rented out.  I would check with your local Chamber of Commerce and see if they could lead you in renting a boat.

I'm all about a wedding dress that is not frilly!

I'll definitely check out the boats with the Chamber of Commerce. I know that I've seen them on a few lakes around here, but I don't know who owns them or whether they are privately owned.  We're looking for one with lots of space below so that people can access the lower level if they can't climb to the top.

When I saw the title of the post, I was going to warn you about rough and tempremental seas! LOL!

A wedding on a lake would be really beautiful, as for resources, I'm sorry, but I cannot help you with that.

Perhaps you should approach the people who own the lake first.
